Core mission personnel development

Every leader is also a "personnel deverloper". In the first century, the apostle Paul described this mandate as "to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up" (Ephesians 4,12).


In the church, personnel development means everyone

While in everyday language, "personnel" means employees, in the church, it is all members. For whoever becomes a believer, receives a twofold mission: the call to friendship and discipleship. Leaders are responsible to offer appropriate development opportunities. Leading therefore means to help lead individual men and women and the church to God and his purposes.

 

Personnel development in our movement grows from the local churches and serves them

Which personnel development needs can be met in the church? Where is the local church just overwhelmed with technical, personnel or financial matters? Church members want and should not only be encouraged for their ministry within the church, but also in their personal development. In this regard, BewegungPlus offers personnel growth opportunities for the complete person; the broadening of one’s horizons. 

 

Personnel development is a question of long-term survival

What is healthy grows. Growth is not commanded but permitted. We may grow, develop, discover new things, find our calling and ministry. This is where BewegungPlus has much to offer. Some callings are not always recognised and encouraged in the own local church because other ministries are more emphasised. This is all right; however, it should not be accepted as a restriction. Specific ministries complete the general call to serve. The wealth of talents and abilities, encouraged through interconnected personnel development, contributes more effectively to the welfare of the whole movement. Still, we are aware that all this hides risks and side effects.

 

Personnel development is a way to mentor people in the church 

Our goal is to coach the complete person. Each man or woman who becomes a christian brings a history and resources with them. Spiritual mentoring helps them to find their place and a starting point, to initiate development steps. BewegungPlus wants to help individuals in different areas such as competence, talents and abilities. We place great value on mentoring and coaching in our education and churches. This ensures the integration and transfer of experience, knowledge and personality.

 

The unique challenge of volunteers and full-time employees' personnel development

How should education and work processes be structured in order to cover the different needs of employees and volonteers working together? There is a genuine desire for ministry and responsibility, even though job pressures limits one's energy and time resources. Here, we have to develop new ways to communicate and work together.

 

A few tasks of the core mission team personnel development

  • To clarify callings and qualifications; to support the start of new employees.
  • To develop offers in the area of education according to the core missions in the BewegungPlus as well as in the local churches.

  • To support the local churches in producing clear profiles when searching new employees.

  • To implement integration processes for new collaborators coming from other works.

  • To provide advanced trainings for pastors and church leaders.

  • To monitor integral personality development through long-term mentoring relations.

  • To create resources for coaching in all matters of the church's foundation and building.

  • To provide professional development as well as relevant individual advices in church environments.

  • To detect change processes and crises; to support the local churches and our movement in structural and leadership matters.

 

And finally: will our core missions be transformed through the new working environment?

So far, much has happened through individual persons – often because of necessity. If  BewegungPlus wants to develop, we need to support each core mission more broadly and to prepare leaders for the future. Different teams will thus be trained  this year for core missions, including "personnel development". With particularly gifted men and women from the local churches that are familiar with the needs on the spot. In this way, a dense network with diverse resources can emerge. In this way, leadership is hold on more shoulders and growth is stimulated.
